About the position

The Instructional Designer will be responsible for designing and developing engaging learning materials tailored for adult learners within a corporate environment. This role involves collaboration with subject matter experts and stakeholders to create effective instructional content that meets the needs of learners, utilizing various e-learning development tools and principles of instructional design.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to analyze learning needs and develop learning objectives.
  • Design and develop instructional materials, including e-learning courses, instructor-led training materials, job aids, and assessments.
  • Apply instructional design principles and adult learning theory to create engaging and interactive learning experiences.
  • Utilize industry-standard tools such as Articulate 360 (Rise & Storyline), Workday Learning, Camtasia, and Synthesia to develop e-learning modules and multimedia content.
  • Incorporate multimedia elements, such as graphics, audio, and video, to enhance learning materials.
  • Conduct quality assurance checks to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to instructional design standards.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of learning materials through assessments and feedback from learners and stakeholders.
  • Revise and update existing learning materials to ensure relevance and effectiveness.
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices in instructional design and e-learning development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, HR, Education, Business or a related field.
  • 3+ years proven experience in instructional design and e-learning development for adult learners in a corporate environment.
  • Strong knowledge of instructional design principles and adult learning theory.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build curriculum through storytelling by incorporating case studies, real-life examples or fictional scenarios.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS, ideally Workday) and learning technologies.
  • Familiarity with assessment and evaluation methodologies for learning effectiveness.

Nice-to-haves

  • 5+ years proven experience in instructional design and e-learning development for adult learners in a corporate environment.
  • Experience with industry-standard tools such as Articulate 360 (Rise & Storyline), Workday Learning, Camtasia, and Synthesia.
  • Knowledge of graphic design principles and experience using graphic design tools, such as Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Experience using ChatGPT and other similar tools to support research and writing as it relates to instructional design.
  • Familiarity with virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) technologies for learning.
  • Experience with gamification techniques and game-based learning.
  • Familiarity with project methodologies, such as Agile and ADDIE.
