About the position

The Senior Instructional Designer (SID) at SHRM is responsible for the analysis, design, and development of innovative learning deliverables aimed at enhancing the HR profession and supporting SHRM's mission. This role involves creating various educational products, including in-person and virtual programs, as well as asynchronous digital content, utilizing instructional design methodologies and adult learning principles. The SID collaborates with cross-functional teams and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to ensure the training meets the needs of both SHRM's workforce and external audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes, designs, and develops SHRM learning deliverables in alignment with SHRM's audience structure.
  • Practices self-directed project management, ensuring timeline goals are met while managing multiple projects concurrently.
  • Cultivates relationships with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
  • Collaborates cross-functionally for training generation and expertise consulting, participating in SHRM events when called upon.
  • Creates program materials that are accessible to WCAG 2.2 Level AA standard, using only tools and products that are fully accessible to learners.
  • Conducts annual audits of SHRM programs to determine necessary updates and redesign needs.
  • Maintains a competitive instructional design edge by staying informed about emerging trends, technologies, and practices in ID and Talent Development.

Requirements

  • Seven years' experience serving as a full-time Instructional Designer.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative, and Articulate 360 suite of tools.
  • Knowledge and experience in the HR field is a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree plus an Instructional Systems Design (ISD) or ISD technology certification.
  • Master's degree in ISD or ISD technology.
  • Certifications SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP preferred.
