About the position

The Senior Instructional Designer at Virginia Union University is responsible for creating and implementing innovative learning solutions to enhance the educational experience. This role involves collaboration with faculty to develop engaging online and blended courses, utilizing advanced technologies such as Gen AI. The position also includes providing professional development for faculty and supporting the creation of micro-credentials and online degree programs, thereby contributing to the university's commitment to academic excellence and student success.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop engaging, learner-centered online and blended courses aligned with VUU's academic goals and standards.
• Develop instructional materials, including learning objectives, assessments, multimedia content, and interactive activities.
• Leverage Gen AI tools to enhance instructional design and development processes, such as generating content ideas, creating interactive elements, and providing personalized learning experiences.
• Provide technical support and training to faculty and staff on the use of educational technologies.
• Promote inclusive teaching practices and create learning experiences that are culturally responsive and equitable.
• Provide professional development workshops and consultations to faculty on instructional design, online teaching, and the effective use of educational technologies.
• Analyze student performance data to identify areas for improvement and inform future instructional design decisions.

Requirements

• Master's degree required.
• Doctorate in Instructional Design, Education or a related field.
• 4+ years of experience in instructional design and development, preferably in higher education.
• Proficiency in learning management systems (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard) and authoring tools.
• Must be able to lift 10 pounds.
