About the position

The Senior Instructional Designer at Spectrum is responsible for developing and designing high-quality learning programs and materials for corporate training initiatives. This role involves analyzing training needs, collaborating with subject matter experts, and creating engaging instructional content using various formats and technologies. The designer will lead the development and implementation of training strategies, evaluate program effectiveness, and provide guidance to instructional design teams, all while focusing on creating impactful learning solutions that align with organizational goals and drive employee development.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and design high-quality learning programs and materials for corporate training initiatives.
  • Analyze training needs and collaborate with subject matter experts to create engaging instructional content.
  • Utilize instructional design principles to develop effective learning experiences, incorporating interactive activities, assessments, and multimedia elements.
  • Lead the development and implementation of training strategies and evaluate program effectiveness.
  • Provide guidance to instructional design teams and conduct standard to moderate complex instructional design projects.
  • Simplify and enhance the employee experience at Spectrum to maintain organizational effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with leadership teams and business subject matter experts to design engaging learning that mitigates risk to the company.
  • Create clear learning objectives in support of business goals and design high-quality learning content to meet audience needs.
  • Conduct reviews of training materials to ensure learning objectives are met and provide enhancements based on feedback.
  • Maintain current knowledge of the latest industry tools and processes and collaborate with assigned L&D staff to create quality training deliverables.
  • Participate in and facilitate in-person or virtual meetings to support learning projects and maintain accurate project status in tracking tools.
  • Diagnose and escalate risks to design projects to appropriate L&D leaders and stakeholders.
  • Design large-scale, engaging learning that enhances business performance with minimal support.
  • Develop storyboards to support eLearning design and manage all functions of eLearning design, including storyboarding and multimedia inclusion.
  • Create and implement evaluation plans to demonstrate the business impact of training initiatives.
  • Model team quality standards in all aspects of learning design while managing multiple projects.
  • Proactively partner with internal customers to determine performance and training needs.
  • Design instruction that reflects an understanding of the diversity of learners and manage external resources for cost-effectiveness and quality.
  • Promote collaboration and relationships among project participants and serve as a mentor to less experienced designers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Adult Learning, or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of Instructional Design and development experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in Project Management.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing in a clear and straightforward manner.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of management and company personnel.
  • Ability to deal with the public in a professional manner.
  • Ability to leverage advanced and emerging digital learning tools, delivery methods, and platforms.
  • Demonstrated PC skills and MS Office skills.
  • Ability to provide guidance and support to others on using designated technology to perform tasks.
  • Ability to develop technical skills to increase personal capabilities, speed, and quality of learning interactions.
