About the position

The Senior Instructional Systems Design Specialist position is located at the Corpore University, HQ of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). This role is pivotal in diagnosing and analyzing performance gaps and understanding target audience requirements. The specialist will be responsible for designing innovative training strategies, courses, and entire curricula utilizing new technologies. Additionally, the position involves developing instructional and performance support products and materials aimed at closing the gaps between current and desired performance levels. In this role, the specialist will perform complex project management duties, which include leading cross-divisional project teams and planning, managing, controlling, directing, and coordinating large-scale training projects. The individual will serve as an expert in project management for training initiatives, developing guidelines and templates for others to utilize. Responsibilities also include conducting complex analyses of highly technical job tasks and skills, and creating strategic plans for comprehensive professional development programs for mission-critical functions. The specialist will recommend enhancements to efficiency and quality through innovations and improvements in work processes, and will also advise and guide others in the application of new training methods across FDIC divisions. This is a temporary assignment not to exceed three years, with the possibility of early termination or extension based on management's needs. The position requires a minimum background investigation and may involve occasional travel. Relocation expenses may be reimbursed in accordance with FDIC policy, and the position is full-time with a competitive promotion potential.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and analyze performance gaps and target audience requirements.
  • Design innovative training strategies, courses, and entire curricula using new technologies.

Requirements

  • A degree that includes at least 24 semester hours appropriate to the work of the position, including study in learning theory, instructional design practices, educational evaluation, instructional product development, and computers in education and training.
  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the grade 13 level in the Federal service, including conducting data-based assessments and root-cause analysis of performance gaps and training needs.
  • Experience leading project teams to develop training programs and curricula, and advising others on instructional design methods.
