About the position

The Intelligence and Homeland Security Group of Leidos is seeking a Senior Instructional Systems Designer (ISD) Lead to support an Intelligence Community (IC) program. An Active TS/SCI with polygraph security clearance is required to be considered for this position. The candidate will support Government staff in the following: The Instructional Systems Designer Lead will design innovative learning products that are instructionally sound and accurate and that engagingly convey content. The ISD will be expected to coordinate the development and delivery of all client training courses. You will use engaging visualization and design techniques to enhance learning and development curriculum in support of a prime contract for the IC environment. We're looking for an ISD with a strong eye for graphics to work in a dynamic environment where you'll have a constant flow of projects. You will use a variety of applications to develop and manipulate graphics, illustrations, photos, models or animations for training and learning solutions. The Instructional Systems Designer (ISD) Lead applies instructional design and adult learning principles and strategies to analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate instructional courses, assessments, job aids, and other learning deliverables for Project Spectrum's clients. The ISD creates deliverables for all phases of the course creation lifecycle including analysis documents, design documents (e.g., course outline, storyboards, prototypes), and final learning deliverables (e.g., Adobe Captivate, Storyline courses, instructor-led course materials, job aids) that align to the overall business goals. The ISD also collaborates effectively with peers, leaders, and business partners to translate business requirements into learning requirements and project scope, build learning solutions that align to desired outcomes, and ensure learning deliverables meet and exceed Project Spectrum's quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Design innovative learning products that are instructionally sound and accurately convey content.
  • Coordinate the development and delivery of all client training courses.
  • Use engaging visualization and design techniques to enhance learning and development curriculum.
  • Apply instructional design and adult learning principles to analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate instructional courses and assessments.
  • Create deliverables for all phases of the course creation lifecycle including analysis documents, design documents, and final learning deliverables.
  • Collaborate effectively with peers, leaders, and business partners to translate business requirements into learning requirements and project scope.
  • Develop in-classroom instructional materials and methods including training plans, storyboards, narrative scripts, and graphics.
  • Assist with identifying and creating instructional material to address field-driven performance shortfalls and client training needs.
  • Support course documentation including course design documents, instructor/facilitator and student guides, and practical exercises.
  • Partner with subject matter experts (SMEs) to ensure learning objectives are appropriate for the audience and align with client needs.
  • Conceptualize, design, and produce visual solutions for a variety of formats and dissemination outputs.
  • Interpret subject matter content and develop original designs and visual styles using adult learning principles.
  • Utilize extensive knowledge of graphics software to design and produce interactive multimedia presentations.
  • Advise on all imaging, video, and graphic matters as a member of the Course Development Team.
  • Perform research of subject matter to convert text themes or ideas into illustration or graphic design.
  • Develop fully functional eLearning courses, instructor-led courses, and blended learning courses.
  • Ensure courses are Section 508 compliant.
  • Clearly convey information and ideas to the learning audience using a variety of media.
  • Provide advice and guidance to senior management on technical advantages and disadvantages of multimedia formats.

Requirements

  • BA degree and 8 - 12 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6 - 10 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Active TS/SCI with Polygraph level clearance is required.
  • Application of sound instructional design principles.
  • Experience with Adobe Captivate and Articulate Storyline.
  • Strong visual design skills for adult education.
  • Audio recording and editing skills.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • People management and task management skills.
  • Experience with SCORM, Section 508 requirements, and technical specifications for Learning Management.

Nice-to-haves

  • 8 or more years progressive work experience in instructional design including training industry experience (instructor-led, online, and blended environments), preferably in the DoD or IC community.
