About the position

The Senior Instructional Systems Designer (ISD) at Leidos will play a crucial role in designing and developing innovative learning products for the Federal Aviation Administration's Office of Commercial Space Transportation. This position involves applying instructional design principles to create engaging and effective training materials, collaborating with subject matter experts, and ensuring all deliverables meet quality standards and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Design innovative, instructionally sound learning products that effectively convey content while engaging learners.
  • Coordinate the development and delivery of all client training courses using creative visualization and design techniques.
  • Apply instructional design and adult learning principles to analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate instructional courses and assessments.
  • Create materials for all phases of the course creation lifecycle, including analysis documents, design documents, and final learning deliverables.
  • Collaborate with peers, leaders, and business partners to translate business requirements into learning objectives and project scope.
  • Develop in-classroom instructional materials and methods, including training plans, storyboards, and evaluation methods.
  • Assist with identifying and creating instructional material to address performance shortfalls and client training needs.
  • Partner with subject matter experts to ensure learning objectives align with audience needs and business objectives.
  • Conceptualize, design, and produce visual solutions for various formats while managing multiple design projects.
  • Utilize graphics software to design and produce interactive multimedia presentations to enhance course material.
  • Advise the Course Development Team on imaging, video, and graphic design matters.
  • Research subject matter to convert text themes into illustrations or graphic designs.
  • Develop fully functional eLearning courses, instructor-led courses, and blended learning courses.
  • Ensure all courses are Section 508 compliant.

Requirements

  • BA degree and 8 - 12 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6 - 10 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Application of sound instructional design principles.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Captivate and Articulate Storyline.
  • Visual design for adult education.
  • Audio recording and editing skills.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • People management and task management skills.
  • Experience with SCORM, Section 508 requirements, and technical specifications for Learning Management.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • 8 or more years progressive work experience in instructional design including training industry experience (instructor-led, online, and blended environments).
