About the position

The Senior Instructional Systems Designer (ISD) role at Leidos involves designing and developing innovative learning products for the FAA's Office of Commercial Space Transportation. The position requires a strong focus on instructional design principles and adult learning strategies to create engaging training materials and courses. The Sr. ISD will collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure that all learning deliverables meet quality standards and align with business objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop in-classroom instructional materials and methods, including training plans, storyboards, narrative scripts, graphics, tests, evaluation methods, and scenarios.
  • Identify and create instructional material to address performance shortfalls and client training needs.
  • Develop course documentation, including design documents, instructor/facilitator and student guides, course syllabus, practical exercises, assessments, and related materials.
  • Partner with subject matter experts (SMEs) to ensure learning objectives align with audience needs and business goals.
  • Conceptualize, design, and produce visual solutions for various formats while managing multiple design projects.
  • Interpret subject matter content and develop original designs and visual styles using adult learning principles.
  • Utilize graphics software to design and produce interactive multimedia presentations.
  • Advise the Course Development Team on imaging, video, and graphic design matters.
  • Research subject matter to convert text themes into illustrations or graphic designs.
  • Develop fully functional eLearning courses, instructor-led courses, and blended learning courses.

Requirements

  • BA degree and 8 - 12 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6 - 10 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Application of sound instructional design principles.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Captivate and Articulate Storyline.
  • Visual design for adult education.
  • Audio recording and editing skills.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • People management and task management skills.
  • Experience with SCORM, Section 508 requirements, and technical specifications for Learning Management.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • 8 or more years of progressive work experience in instructional design, including training industry experience in various environments.
