About the position

The Senior Instructional Technologist/Designer (ITD) position at Quincy College is a full-time, on-site role within the QC Learning Innovation Hub. This position is pivotal in providing services, training, and consultations to faculty on the effective use of pedagogically sound technology tools. Reporting to the AVP of Online Learning, the Senior ITD is expected to be a collaborative solution-maker, leading the development and implementation of innovative online courses that utilize advanced technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI). The successful candidate will be skilled in leveraging Open Educational Resources (OER) and multimedia to create participatory learning experiences that align with Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles. This role requires a forward-thinking individual who can work closely with faculty and staff to design and deliver engaging, accessible online learning solutions. In this role, the Senior ITD will collaborate with Deans and faculty subject matter experts to develop online courses that effectively integrate classroom and online technology, ensuring relevant and engaging experiences for all students. The position involves taking a lead role in creating training materials and providing training to faculty and students on various tools that support participatory learning environments. The Senior ITD will also evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools to enhance the teaching and learning experience, and will facilitate professional development opportunities focused on new academic software, technology, and instructional best practices. The Senior ITD will work with a variety of web, AI, multimedia, and audio-visual technologies, applying them appropriately to enhance learner interaction among students, faculty, and content. As a key member of the Learning Innovation Hub Team, the Senior ITD will provide technical and production support while contributing to overall strategy and planning. Staying updated on the latest developments in the field, the Senior ITD will suggest new strategic investments in instructional technology and collaborate with the AVP of Online Learning to pilot and implement new technologies and processes. The role also includes evaluating the quality, accuracy, and effectiveness of courses in accordance with Quality Matters (QM) and National Standards for Quality Online Teaching (NSO). Managing multiple projects and maintaining clear communication with Deans, faculty, and other stakeholders are essential aspects of this position.

Responsibilities

  • Develop online courses in collaboration with Deans and faculty subject matter experts, promoting the use of technology to enhance student engagement.
  • Create training materials and provide training to faculty and students on tools that support participatory learning environments.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools to improve teaching and learning experiences.
  • Facilitate professional development opportunities on new academic software, technology, and instructional best practices.
  • Work with various web, AI, multimedia, and audio-visual technologies to enhance learner interaction.
  • Serve as a key member of the Learning Innovation Hub Team, providing technical and production support.
  • Stay updated on developments in instructional technology and suggest strategic investments.
  • Evaluate the quality and effectiveness of courses according to Quality Matters and National Standards for Quality Online Teaching.
  • Manage multiple projects to ensure timely completion throughout all development phases.
  • Maintain consistent communication with Deans, faculty, and other College stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Instructional Technology, Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or a closely related field; Doctoral Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of five years' experience in technology integration in educational settings.
  • Experience in curriculum or instructional design with an emphasis on Universal Design and authentic performance assessment.
  • Proven ability to design, develop, and implement courses across various modalities including online synchronous, online asynchronous, hybrid, and HyFlex.
  • Ability to create and integrate professional quality multimedia resources for educational purposes.
  • Proven collaboration skills with Deans and faculty to develop courses using advanced learner experience technology.
  • Knowledge of ADA standards and technological solutions for accessibility compliance.
  • Experience leveraging open educational resources for online learner engagement.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively.
  • Proficiency with LMS platforms (e.g., Canvas), e-learning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate 360, Captivate), and multimedia creation software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
