About the position

The Senior Instrument/Electrical Engineer at Braskem plays a crucial role in the Maintenance & Reliability Group, focusing on enhancing plant operations and reliability at the Seadrift facility. This position involves implementing best practices in reliability, optimizing preventive maintenance tasks, and providing technical support for instrumentation and electrical issues. The engineer will also lead capital projects aimed at improving equipment reliability and availability.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day technical support in the field for instrumentation and electrical issues & projects.
  • Manage Preventative Maintenance (PM) and inspection deferrals.
  • Own and manage area maintenance procedures and ensure that equipment files, spare parts, and BOMs are updated.
  • Understand obsolescence and upgrade requirements for equipment and spare parts, ensuring information is current in SAP or equipment files.
  • Develop/complete required Management of Change for maintenance activities.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment failures/defects for job planning.
  • Provide technical support in the design and installation stages of projects to minimize life cycle costs.
  • Create and lead maintenance capital projects for equipment rebuilds or reliability improvements.
  • Lead root cause inquiry related to equipment failures and issue reports for management review.
  • Maintain Maximo calibration records and manage Universal waste inspections.
  • Assist in maintaining plant electrical prints and equipment schematics.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 5+ years relevant experience.
  • Understanding of industry codes and standards (i.e. IEEE, ISA, NFPA, NEC).
  • Knowledge of instrumentation and measurement technology.
  • Experience with low and high voltage power distribution and controls.
  • Familiarity with Safety Instrumented System specification, design, and implementation.
  • Experience with analyzers and sample systems.
  • Proficiency in PLC maintenance and functionality.
  • Understanding of Reliability Engineering concepts and data scrutiny techniques.
  • Knowledge of Predictive and Preventive Maintenance concepts.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the refining, petrochemical, or chemical process industries.
  • Root Cause Analysis (RCA) experience.
  • Experience with TapRoot or ProAct methodologies.
  • Familiarity with SAP and Maximo applications.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication and mentoring.
