About the position

As a Senior Instrumentation and Control Systems (I&C) Engineer at Wood, you will be responsible for the design and implementation of I&C systems for clients in the Minerals and Metals industry. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver engineering solutions that meet client specifications while adhering to industry standards. The position emphasizes technical expertise, leadership, and the ability to manage projects from inception to completion in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Business Development team in identifying business opportunities and contribute to project proposals.
  • Lead and manage I&C projects from inception to completion, ensuring specifications are met and projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Review and document project requirements including reliability, redundancy, and functionality of I&C systems.
  • Approve I&C design criteria, specifications, and standards, ensuring compliance with codes and regulations.
  • Develop innovative I&C designs including control system architecture diagrams and wiring diagrams.
  • Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation plans.
  • Conduct technical reviews and approve vendor documentation and purchase requisitions.
  • Supervise and coordinate the work of the I&C design team.
  • Implement quality control processes to ensure high standards of engineering deliverables.
  • Establish strong relationships with clients and provide tailored engineering solutions.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers in their professional development.
  • Support project construction, commissioning, and startup activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, electronics, chemical or mechanical engineering or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license required.
  • 10+ years of I&C engineering experience, including 5 years of design experience with an engineering firm in minerals and metals projects.
  • Expertise in I&C design related to Material Handling, Crushing, Grinding, Particle Separation, and Flotation Systems.
  • Experience with SCADA Systems, PLCs, and DCS; understanding of process control theory including PID control loops.
  • Proficiency in design software such as Smart Plant, Solid Works, AutoCAD, and PLC/HMI configuration software.
  • Experience with instrumentation applications for flow, level, temperature, and pressure measurement.
  • General understanding of online stream analyzers and industry-specific regulations.
