About the position

As a Senior Instrumentation & Controls Engineer at Black & Veatch, you will play a pivotal role in managing and coordinating various phases of automation, instrumentation, control, and SCADA projects specifically tailored for water and wastewater utilities. This position is designed for a professional who is not only technically proficient but also possesses strong interpersonal skills to foster relationships with clients in the Miami, Orlando, Ft. Myers, and Tampa areas. You will act as a crucial liaison between the local design team, clients, and remote design teams, ensuring seamless communication and project execution. Your responsibilities will include leading the execution of I&C design projects, taking overall responsibility for the engineering efforts, and coordinating with multiple disciplines on large-scale projects. You will be expected to provide local interface by attending client and contractor meetings, performing field investigations, and attending factory acceptance testing. Additionally, you will help resolve any I&C-related client and construction issues that may arise during the project lifecycle. Monitoring and controlling project schedules and budgets will be a key part of your role, along with assisting in proposals and presentations in response to sales opportunities. Responsibilities

  • Create relationships with clients in the Miami, Orlando, Ft. Myers, and Tampa area.
  • Act as a liaison between the local design team, client, and remote design teams.
  • Manage and coordinate marketing, planning, design, and construction phase services for automation, instrumentation, control, and SCADA projects for water and wastewater utilities.
  • Lead execution and take overall responsibility for I&C design projects.
  • Coordinate I&C engineering efforts for large multi-discipline projects.
  • Provide local interface by attending client and contractor meetings, performing field investigations, and attending factory acceptance testing.
  • Help resolve I&C client and construction issues.
  • Monitor and control project schedule and budgets.
  • Assist with proposals and presentations in response to sales opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from a recognized accredited program.
  • Minimum of 8 years related work experience in instrumentation, control, and automation design consulting.
  • 4 years' experience in the water/wastewater industry.
  • 2 years' experience in project management and business development.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License.
