About the position

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Senior Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to join our expanding Instrumentation and Controls Engineering group, primarily focused on upgrading and replacing power plant control systems with new digital control systems for our electric power generation clients. This role involves working on major process controls engineering projects specifically for nuclear power plants, where you will be responsible for various critical tasks. You will engage in the design and implementation of digital systems, including PLCs, DCS, touchscreen displays, network switches, and control systems. Your expertise will be essential in developing functional requirements and procurement specifications for instrumentation and control systems tailored for nuclear power plants. Additionally, you will conduct evaluations for process instrumentation replacements and prepare nuclear modification packages to ensure compliance and efficiency. Your role will also encompass mechatronics and control systems for various components such as pumps, valves, heat exchangers, steam turbines, and reactors, aimed at enhancing the operational functionality of our clients' plants. Regular attendance at client meetings and site walkdowns will be required to ensure client satisfaction with our deliverables. Furthermore, you will have the opportunity to mentor and guide less experienced nuclear instrumentation and controls design engineers, fostering their professional development and ensuring high-quality engineering practices within the team.
