About the position

As a Senior Instrumentation & Controls Engineer at Sargent & Lundy, you will play a crucial role in major process controls engineering projects within the Nuclear Power Group. This position involves working on digital systems, preparing documentation for design inputs, interfacing with vendors, and providing mentorship to less experienced engineers. The role is hybrid, requiring in-office work three days a week, and focuses on ensuring client satisfaction through technical expertise and effective communication.

Responsibilities

  • Work on major process controls engineering projects in digital systems including PLC, DCS, and control systems.
  • Prepare functional requirement and procurement specifications for instrumentation and control components.
  • Conduct process instrumentation replacement evaluation reports and nuclear modification packages.
  • Prepare documentation for design input for drawing production, including cable block diagrams and schematics.
  • Interface with vendors and prepare equipment purchase specifications.
  • Prepare reports and studies that present technical information clearly to meet client requirements.
  • Develop P&ID's and System Design Descriptions.
  • Attend client meetings and perform site walkdowns to ensure client satisfaction.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to less experienced nuclear instrumentation and controls design engineers.
  • Support station outage activities as required.

Requirements

  • A BS or MS degree in engineering from an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission-approved program.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in design engineering for process control systems.
  • Technically knowledgeable of available equipment and proven pre-engineered systems to execute systems design.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in reviewing design drawings created by others.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in design engineering for nuclear power plant control systems.
  • PE License.
