About the position

Foley & Lardner LLP is seeking a Senior Intellectual Property Paralegal to join our team in various locations including Chicago, Milwaukee, Boston, Salt Lake City, Detroit, Houston, and Dallas. This position is integral to managing client portfolios, specifically focusing on the prosecution of intellectual property matters, including US, PCT, and foreign filings. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating, revising, and filing prosecution documents, as well as corresponding with foreign associates regarding all aspects of foreign prosecution. Timely reporting of official correspondence is also a critical component of this role. The ideal candidate will possess a strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment. Adaptability and a proactive approach are essential, along with strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities. Proficiency in Microsoft products and a comfort level with technology are necessary to succeed in this role. The position requires the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team. Strong customer service orientation and effective oral and written communication skills are vital for interacting with clients and personnel at all levels. Responsibilities

  • Support various intellectual property attorneys to provide excellent service to our clients
  • Prepare and file, or instruct, on all aspects of US, PCT, and foreign prosecution
  • Draft formality documents, attend to document legalization (where necessary), comply with priority document requirements
  • Review and maintain a docket of associated deadlines of assigned clients
  • Timely report official communications to the client and foreign associates
  • Consistently achieve 1500 billable hour requirement (including approved non-billable time)
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Minimum of five (5) years' experience in international, PCT, and US prosecution required
  • High school diploma (or equivalent); college degree and/or a paralegal certificate from a school approved by the ABA is preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of patent procedural requirements of USPTO practices required
  • If residing in California, must meet requirements to be a Paralegal as defined by the State of California
