As a Senior Interior Designer in our St. Louis office, you will play a pivotal role in managing projects that create interior environments enhancing organizational performance and achieving client business objectives. Your work will involve developing innovative interior architectural design concepts that are practical, aesthetic, safe, and conducive to their intended purpose and function, all while reflecting client goals and adhering to project budgets and schedules. In this role, you will be responsible for directing the implementation of projects through all design phases, including programming, conceptual design, schematic design, and design development. You will manage and coordinate schedules, hours, and work output with multiple in-house disciplines and consultants, ensuring that projects comply with established standards, scope, schedule, and budget. You will also shape and develop client relationships, advocating for an inter-disciplinary design approach and promoting integrated design across the firm. As a Senior Interior Designer, you will lead programming efforts, develop programming documents, and oversee multiple significant or large-scale projects. You will conduct periodic on-site observations during construction to monitor compliance with design documents and may prepare client presentations and reports. Your role will also involve engaging with current clients to identify opportunities for continued or additional services, as well as leading new client relationships and pursuits. This position requires a strong commitment to design excellence and quality deliverables, working under consultative direction toward long-range goals and objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Authors and/or assigns to specific team members the design and development of ideas, techniques and standards.
  • Directs the implementation of projects through all the phases of design; programming, conceptual design, schematic design, and design development and construction documentation/administration, when warranted.
  • Manage and coordinate schedule, hours, and work output with multiple in-house disciplines and/or consultants.
  • Monitor established standards and guidelines to ensure that project complies with scope, schedule and budget.
  • Shape, develop and champion client relationships, existing and new.
  • Work closely with Design Principals and SMEs across the globe to advocate an inter-disciplinary design approach and philosophy; promote integrated design approach across firm.
  • Leads programming effort, developing programming documents and associated deliverables.
  • Leads effort on multiple significant projects or large-scale projects.
  • Champion design excellence through quality of deliverables.
  • Plans and programs layout of project(s); coordinates and integrates all other discipline elements into unified design for client review and approval.
  • Maintains schedules on interior scopes of work, responsible for deliverable milestones and the team's production.
  • Conducts periodic on-site observation of work during construction to monitor compliance with detailed design documents.
  • May prepare client project presentations studies, and reports.
  • Participates in new project pursuits as well as engaging with current clients to identify and curate opportunities for continued or additional services.
  • Represents organization, with internal and external personnel, on significant matters.
  • Utilizes computer-assisted design software and equipment to prepare project designs and plans.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of sustainability, integrated design and LEED and WELL/FitWELL guidelines.
  • Working knowledge of workplace strategies and facilitating the approach to an Interiors solution aligned with work patterns and alignment with business drivers.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketchup, and InDesign graphic software.
  • Ability to create renderings as part of design process.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in selecting and specifying furniture, finishes and equipment (FF&E) and utilizing database programs to document it.
  • Strong organizational, communications (both verbal and written) skills, and leadership abilities are required.
  • Ability to effectively coordinate with internal interior, architectural and engineering team members is required.
  • Knowledge of pertinent building and accessibility codes.
  • Active participation in professional organizations is preferred.
  • Insight to local real estate market preferred.
  • Strong positive reputation in the industry and with clients.
  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture or equivalent in education or experience required.
  • 12+ years' applicable professional experience, demonstrated by working in a similar role.
  • Licensed Architect or Interior Designer with current registration in your region required, if licensure is offered in your region.
  • AIA, NCIDQ/CID registration required.
  • LEED AP/ WELL AP Preferred.
