About the position

The Senior Interior Designer will play a crucial role in a national multidisciplinary design firm, focusing on healthcare and science & technology projects. This position involves collaborating with various project teams to create innovative design solutions that enhance the user experience. The designer will be responsible for translating complex programming requirements into effective design strategies, ensuring that projects meet established goals and client expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Work with HC and S&T Architectural and Interior Design teams to develop the interior design direction.
  • Research materials and concepts to advise and support the design team on technical issues influencing interior design concept development.
  • Work within project schedules to prioritize tasks and coordinate the completion of documentation from initial design phase through final project completion.
  • Establish programming, client's expectations of quality, and design goals for the project.
  • Monitor project progress to verify consistency with established design goals and objectives.
  • Facilitate, clarify, or coach as necessary to maintain effective working relationships between the client/project manager and team.
  • Develop and implement office-based market sector strategies with Practice Group Leaders and Principals.
  • Assist principals and project managers in developing the scope of work and fees.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with multidisciplinary team members.
  • Nurture existing client relationships and align internal teams for optimal client results.
  • Maintain positive relationships with clients, consultants, and contractors to build high-performing teams.
  • Provide input and assist with talent acquisition and staff development through active mentorship.
  • Exhibit a leadership style and work ethic that demonstrates professionalism, energy, and dedication to the company's success.
  • Support a culture of mentorship, coaching, and guiding team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited Interior Design/Interior Architecture program or related field.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience at architecture and/or interior design firms with a strong design focus on HC and S&T projects.
  • Professional licensure and/or certification required; LEED AP and EDAC strongly encouraged.
  • Knowledge of interior design concepts, materials, and furnishing requirements specific to HC and S&T projects.
  • Thorough understanding of the technical process for large-scale interiors projects with emphasis in the HC and S&T sector.
  • Knowledge of building materials, specifications, and construction techniques.
  • Familiarity with applicable codes (city, state, federal).
  • Experience with finish materials, FF&E selection and specification, and construction detailing.
  • Proficiency in Revit required; experience with 3D visualization tools such as Enscape or SketchUp desired.
  • Fluent knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent listening skills and ability to anticipate and respond to client needs.
  • Ability to take initiative, work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
