About the position

Ryan Companies is seeking a Senior Interior Designer specializing in healthcare to join our innovative and collaborative team. This role is designed for a creative individual who strives for excellence and is capable of problem-solving both independently and as part of a team. The Senior Interior Designer will be responsible for developing extraordinary design solutions that inspire design excellence across various healthcare environments. Candidates should possess a minimum of 10 years of healthcare-specific experience, although those with unique backgrounds or demonstrated potential will also be considered. In this position, you will engage in Ryan Companies' unique integrated delivery process, which encompasses architecture, engineering, construction, development, real estate management, and capital markets. This integrated approach requires a proactive and positive attitude, enabling you to work effectively with local teams and across regions within a national design practice. The successful candidate will hold an Interior Design license and preferably have a professional degree in Interior Design or a related field. Additional healthcare accreditations such as EDAC or CHID are preferred. You will leverage your extensive experience in healthcare design, including acute care, ambulatory care, medical office buildings, laboratories, and pharmacies, to lead and coordinate large, complex projects. Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills are essential, as is the ability to collaborate and lead a diverse team. Advanced knowledge of healthcare interiors, design concepts, practices, and methods is crucial, along with proficiency in Revit, MS Office Suite, Adobe Suite, Enscape, SketchUp, and Bluebeam. As a Senior Interior Designer, you will manage the development of an interior design vision for projects, ensuring that this vision is maintained throughout all phases of design and construction. You will lead a team of Interior Designers through the project delivery process, managing a complete set of interior design documents to meet project goals and schedules. Your role will involve leading design meetings, consultant meetings, and project team meetings, as well as providing guidance on complex technical issues. You will also be responsible for conducting interior design code reviews and managing Ryan's QA/QC process for the interior scope of work. In addition to your design responsibilities, you will contribute to the culture of Ryan Companies by participating in office activities, initiatives, and learning programs. You will establish and pursue annual goals for personal and professional growth, ensuring that the firm's goals of design excellence, execution, and sustainability are met. Direct supervision and mentorship of staff will also be part of your responsibilities, along with participation in business development activities and project interviews.

Responsibilities

  • Develop extraordinary design solutions for healthcare environments.
  • Collaborate with clients, project architects, design project managers, and consultants to create documentation for coordination and construction.
  • Lead the development of an interior design vision and ensure its maintenance throughout all phases of design and construction.
  • Manage and coordinate a complete set of interior design documents to meet project goals and schedules.
  • Lead all phases of the interiors project scope from programming to construction administration, focusing on building codes and documentation.
  • Advise clients on appropriate finish and material selections to support project goals.
  • Conduct design meetings, consultant meetings, and project team meetings.
  • Provide guidance to team members on complex technical issues.
  • Research and lead interior design code reviews.
  • Manage Ryan's QA/QC process and project specifications for interior scope of work.
  • Identify and communicate deviations in project scope to clients and construction teams.
  • Participate in business development and project interviews.
  • Contribute to office culture through participation in activities and learning programs.
  • Establish and pursue annual personal and professional growth goals.
  • Direct, supervise, and mentor staff, ensuring their development.

Requirements

  • Interior Design licensure required.
  • Professional Interior Design degree or related field experience preferred.
  • EDAC, CHID or other healthcare accreditation preferred.
  • At least 10 years of relevant professional work experience in healthcare design.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to collaborate and lead a diverse team on large, complex projects.
  • Proven track record of leading and coordinating work efforts of staff with inspirational leadership.
  • Advanced knowledge of healthcare interiors and design concepts, practices, and methods.
  • Strong knowledge of Revit required.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Adobe Suite, Enscape, SketchUp, and Bluebeam required.
  • LEED AP and/or WELL AP preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of building regulations, Facility Guidelines Institute (FGI), and safety codes.
