About the position

DLR Group is seeking a Senior Interior Designer to join our Justice+Civic team in Texas. This role is pivotal in developing designs from conception through construction administration, ensuring that our projects not only meet client expectations but also elevate the human experience through thoughtful design. As a nationally recognized expert in Justice+Civic facility planning and design, DLR Group serves a variety of public-sector clients, including municipal, county, state, and federal entities. Our mission is to deliver civic, public safety, and justice design solutions that achieve operational excellence, sustainable design, and resilience planning. In this position, you will lead project design efforts, engage in client interactions, and present design concepts. Your role will also involve mentoring junior staff, fostering a collaborative work environment that emphasizes respect, learning, and communication. You will work closely with a project team to pursue, secure, and execute work, contributing to marketing and business development activities, and participating in firm research and development projects. Your expertise will be crucial in creating and leading the design vision, setting material palettes, and ensuring the quality of construction documents and specifications. As a Senior Interior Designer, you will possess a clear design voice and in-depth knowledge of the public-sector design industry. You will be responsible for instilling thought leadership throughout all phases of the design process, ensuring that our designs are not only aesthetically pleasing but also grounded in evidence-based solutions that promote healing, equity, and transformation for individuals and communities. Responsibilities

  • Develop designs from conception through construction administration.
  • Lead project design efforts and client interactions.
  • Mentor junior staff and foster a collaborative work environment.
  • Create and lead design vision and direction for design concepts.
  • Set vision and direction for material palettes.
  • Review and provide feedback to the team for development.
  • Contribute to the development of Construction Documents and specifications.
  • Direct and contribute to the development of Furniture packages.
  • Participate in marketing and business development activities.
  • Engage in firm research and development projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design or equivalent.
  • NCIDQ Certification.
  • At least 8 years of experience in Public-sector and/or Government design industry.
  • Proficient in the use of computer modeling and rendering software.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively in a cross-disciplinary team atmosphere.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong leadership, team building, and time management skills.
