About the position

The Senior Interior Designer at SmithGroup will lead design efforts across various project stages, ensuring cohesive and innovative design solutions. This role involves collaboration with clients, contractors, and internal teams, as well as overseeing project management aspects such as scope, schedules, and quality control. The designer will also mentor junior staff and contribute to the recruitment process, all while promoting a sustainable and inclusive design approach.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design efforts for all stages of a project, including client and contractor interactions.
  • Assist in project management by developing project scope, schedules, and fee management.
  • Lead programming, conceptualization, and integration of strategic design solutions.
  • Consult with manufacturers and evaluate materials for projects.
  • Document architectural drawings and assist in construction administration.
  • Oversee the design work of others to ensure cohesive design and quality control.
  • Lead all phases of the design process, including developing workplace standards.
  • Mentor junior staff and participate in performance coaching.
  • Participate in the recruitment and interviewing process as requested.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 10 years of related experience.
  • LEED AP preferred; Architectural or Interior Design registration required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
  • Technical competence in schematic design through construction documents.
  • Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team environment.
