About the position

BSA LifeStructures is seeking a Senior Interior Designer to join our Indianapolis Studio. This role is pivotal in ensuring that our clients' visions are met through innovative design, functionality, and detailed drawings. The Senior Interior Designer will be responsible for developing optimal design solutions that align with client needs while upholding the company's high standards of design quality. This position requires presenting design solutions to clients and maintaining professional communication with clients, project teams, and consultants throughout the project lifecycle. In this role, the Senior Interior Designer will manage project-specific scope, budget, and schedule, overseeing all aspects associated with projects, including proposals, contracts, and project profitability. The designer will develop a schedule of integrated tasks required to accomplish individual projects and monitor progress towards deliverables. Additionally, the designer will oversee the development of fully coordinated quality design documents and create a focus within the studio on improving project outcomes, client satisfaction, design leadership, and overall quality. Mentorship is a key component of this position, as the Senior Interior Designer will provide training and leadership to junior Interior Designers, empowering them through project work and fostering their professional development. The role also encourages continued education and community involvement, promoting the company's reputation through strong client relations. The Senior Interior Designer may be required to perform other duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of the studio and the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure clients' vision is met through design, function, and detailed drawings.
  • Develop an optimal design solution for the project that meets clients' needs and represents the company's standard quality of design.
  • Present design solutions to the client.
  • Maintain constant professional communications with client, project team, and consultants.
  • Manage project-specific scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Manage all aspects associated with projects including proposals, exhibits, contracts, project budget, and profitability.
  • Develop a schedule of integrated tasks required to accomplish individual projects and monitor progress toward the deliverable schedule.
  • Oversee development of fully coordinated quality design documents.
  • Create focus within the studio discipline on improving project outcomes, client satisfaction, design leadership, overall quality, staff engagement/communication, and project profitability.
  • Follow Core Processes using design tools, project management tools, and technology techniques across the discipline to ensure consistency in how projects are delivered.
  • Work collaboratively with design leaders to elevate the quality of design on all projects.
  • Mentor Interior Designers and provide training and leadership through project work to empower, train, and develop staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture.
  • 10+ years of experience in the design industry including construction documentation and field observation.
  • NCIDQ Certification required.
  • Experience with projects focused on Healthcare, Higher Education, and/or Lab Design preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • High accuracy and attention to detail with the ability to perform work with precision.
  • Leadership skills to assume authority and empower associates.
  • Strategic thinking to develop strategies for organizational goals.
  • Strong analytical skills to gather and analyze relevant data for business decisions.
  • Ownership mentality with a sense of accountability in deliverables.
  • Proficient in Revit, Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), Google Apps, Architecture CAD, Sketchup, Bluebeam, InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and Enscape.

Benefits

  • Eligible to work remotely 16 hours per week after 90 days of employment.
