About the position

The Senior Interior Designer will lead all aspects of the design process, from ideation to implementation, ensuring innovative and successful outcomes for clients. This role involves close collaboration with principals and clients, directing a talented team, and mentoring designers. The position is based in the Kansas City Studio and focuses on human-centric design, requiring a strong understanding of architectural design processes and effective communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all phases of the design process with proficiency and creativity.
  • Initiate and create detailed design concepts, developing functional requirements and project-design criteria.
  • Exhibit understanding and leadership in the architectural design process and integration of standalone interiors projects.
  • Lead interior design efforts and project teams, including design direction and client engagement.
  • Use graphic storytelling to advance project delivery and scope.
  • Participate in marketing efforts and lead design presentations to prospective clients.
  • Prepare client presentation packages, external publications, and award submissions.
  • Review work for accuracy, omissions, legibility, and compliance with the Project Delivery Manual.
  • Lead collaborative teams in design reviews, charettes, and pin-ups.
  • Demonstrate strong communication and direction to inspire high team performance and design ideas.
  • Mentor staff and coordinate effectively with clients, partners, and consultants throughout the project.

Requirements

  • 10-15+ years of experience in interior design.
  • Bachelor's degree in interiors, architecture, or a related discipline.
  • NCIDQ certification required.
  • LEED GA certification within 6 months of hire.
  • Professional accreditation in Living Design within 6 months of hire.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced knowledge of 2D/3D production software.
  • Experience with BIM and building codes.
  • Familiarity with furniture and interior products.
  • Experience in construction contract administration.
