About the position

The Hardgoods Supply Chain Senior Inventory Manager at Airgas USA LLC will play a pivotal role in the optimization of inventory management across the supply chain. This position involves analyzing real-time data from various stakeholders including manufacturers, vendors, wholesalers, logistics, customers, and distribution centers (DCs). The Senior Inventory Manager will be responsible for ensuring that products are strategically stocked in locations that best serve the company's regions, branches, and customers. This role is essential for developing a vision for world-class inventory management and control by leveraging industry best practices. In this position, the Senior Inventory Manager will develop comprehensive inventory strategies that encompass the entire supply chain process, from receiving to shipping. This includes conducting inventory analysis, creating an inventory roadmap, and ensuring accurate cycle counting. The role also involves strategic development of programs and projects, which includes setting targets, deliverables, and timelines, as well as managing the annual plan and coordinating meetings to resolve issues. The Senior Inventory Manager will lead the management of key performance indicators (KPIs) to establish competitive benchmarks that enhance customer experience. Responsibilities also include managing the return process of inventory from branches to DCs, overseeing the donation or disposal of obsolete inventory, and collaborating with various teams on automation and digital transformation initiatives. Achieving monthly and quarterly inventory accuracy targets and identifying areas for improvement will be critical to the success of this role. The position requires strong leadership and communication skills to support continuous improvement in key supply chain metrics, ensuring clear and timely communication with stakeholders throughout the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze real-time data from all aspects of the hardgoods supply chain.
  • Optimize stocking levels to ensure products are in the best locations for regions and customers.
  • Liaise between distribution centers, National Purchasing, and Product Management to reduce costs and increase working capital.
  • Create a vision for world-class inventory management and control.
  • Develop inventory strategies from receiving dock to shipping, including inventory analysis and roadmap development.
  • Lead KPI management and establish competitive benchmarks for improved customer experience.
  • Manage the process for returning inventory from branches to distribution centers.
  • Oversee the donation and disposal of obsolete inventory.
  • Collaborate with teams on automation and digital transformation opportunities.
  • Achieve monthly and quarterly inventory accuracy targets and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Lead and manage multiple complex work streams and collaborate with various departments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field required.
  • M.A./M.S. degree in Supply Chain Management or MBA preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in management/supervisory/planning in a manufacturing and/or distribution environment.
  • Experience with SAP/Warehouse management software or similar ERP systems required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong training and facilitation skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Google and Excel.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
