About the position

The Senior Investment Accountant at Emory University plays a crucial role in the investment management operations team, focusing on investment accounting, audit, and reporting. This position is responsible for processing transactional activities, preparing financial schedules, assisting with audits, and ensuring accurate internal and external reporting. The role requires a CPA and emphasizes teamwork, attention to detail, and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Processes and documents transactional activities including daily cash flow review.
  • Performs accounting and performance reconciliations.
  • Prepares financial schedules; researches and resolves accounting issues.
  • Monitors outstanding commitments and fees.
  • Tracks and processes expenses, fee payments, and monthly accruals.
  • Assists with the preparation of various audit workpapers, audit memos, and position papers.
  • Assists in the annual audit process and works directly with external auditors as necessary.
  • Completes periodic endowment surveys.
  • Assists with internal and external reporting needs, including Investment Committee Report preparation and review.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting.
  • One year of related work experience; three years preferred.
  • A CPA is required.
  • Previous audit experience preferred.
  • High level of professional maturity, integrity, judgment, and discretion required.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple complex tasks with a focus on detail, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
