About the position

The Senior Investment Accountant role at Vaco involves preparing financial data for reports in compliance with various accounting principles and regulations. This position is crucial for ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance within the insurance industry, particularly focusing on investment accounting. The role is remote with a hybrid work model, requiring in-office presence on select days.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the preparation of financial data for quarterly and annual reports in accordance with GAAP, SEC, SAP, and other regulatory requirements.
• Assist in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end accounting close and reporting for investment accounting, including journal entries, financial analysis, and account reconciliations.
• Prepare and analyze complex standard and ad hoc investment financial reports for management.
• Prepare workpapers related to both internal and external audit requests.
• Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley internal control requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting from a four-year college or university.
• Minimum of 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in investment accounting or analysis in a property/casualty insurance environment.
• Clear knowledge and proven abilities in investment accounting and portfolio management/analysis.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and verbal/written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage, prioritize, and meet deadlines for multiple assignments simultaneously.
• Strong teamwork skills and a professional demeanor that aligns with the company's vision and values.
• Flexibility in a fast-paced environment and a customer-focused attitude.
• Proficient PC skills, particularly in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Clearwater and Oracle General Ledger applications.
