About the position

The Investment Management Product Analyst role at Morningstar involves supporting Investment Product Managers in the analysis and development of investment strategies, including mutual funds and ETFs. The analyst will conduct in-depth research on current and prospective products, competitive landscapes, and investor profiles, contributing to product positioning and marketing efforts. This position is based in Chicago and operates in a hybrid work environment, requiring in-office attendance three days a week.

Responsibilities

  • Support Investment Product Managers in gathering and analyzing data related to investment strategies.
  • Create, populate, and maintain ongoing competitor and industry intelligence data.
  • Update team members with information on product positioning, performance attribution, and market data.
  • Build and maintain knowledge on institutional and retail investment vehicles.
  • Conduct ongoing research and analyze competitor information for product positioning.
  • Identify product marketing opportunities based on industry trends and competitive advantages.
  • Support Fund Board responsibilities and other committee duties related to product management.
  • Update and maintain accurate records of current product offerings and attributes.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to create and maintain client materials.
  • Facilitate and execute key product initiatives across business functions.
  • Support learning & development for sales training initiatives.
  • Monitor internal sources to ensure accuracy of product-related information.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of work experience in mutual fund or ETF products at an asset management firm.
  • Experience in investment product development/management.
  • Solid understanding of asset allocation, investing, and performance analytics concepts.
  • Familiarity with mutual funds, ETFs, and separately managed accounts.
  • Strong attention to detail and effective writing skills.
  • Presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse teams.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
