About the position

The Senior IP Paralegal will provide comprehensive legal support to the Company and the Intellectual Property (IP) team, focusing on IP filing, docket management, and liaising with IP service providers. This role involves contract review, drafting, and editing, as well as administrative support for the IP team's activities and IT systems. The position requires exceptional judgment, analytical skills, and the ability to multitask effectively in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal support to the IP team, including docketing and document management.
  • Liaise with IP service providers and manage IP-based contract review.
  • Draft, review, and revise IP presentations, training materials, and other related documents.
  • Respond to inquiries from domestic and international patent agents regarding IP matters.
  • Monitor progress of patent cases and attorney dockets using relevant software.
  • Assist with billing, budget preparation, and tracking law firm expenses.
  • Streamline communications with outside law firms and vendors regarding billing and invoicing.
  • Perform administrative duties such as obtaining documents and signatures, and drafting legal documents as needed.
  • Ensure adherence to IP legal and regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Assist with other tasks and assignments as specified by management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or Associate's degree.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a corporate IP department.
  • Licensed NJ Notary or willingness to obtain license.
  • Proven expertise with IP docketing software and managing high volume patent dockets.
  • Ability to manage highly sensitive information.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent planning, organization, and time-management skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with contracts and legal documents.
  • Experience in developing processes or tools for greater efficiencies in a law department.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Logical thinker with excellent problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Paralegal certificate is a plus.
