About the position

The Senior IP Paralegal will provide comprehensive legal support to the Intellectual Property (IP) team at PTC Therapeutics, focusing on IP filing, docket management, and contract review. This role involves liaising with IP service providers, drafting and editing legal documents, and maintaining efficient processes and policies within the IP department. The position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively across various functions within the company.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal support to the IP team, including IP filing and docket management for patents and trademarks.
  • Liaise with IP service providers and assist with IP-based contract review, drafting, and editing.
  • Manage document management and database systems, including software administration and troubleshooting.
  • Generate IP reports and assist in the preparation of training materials and presentations.
  • Respond to inquiries from domestic and international patent agents regarding IP matters.
  • Monitor progress of patent cases and manage attorney/agent dockets using relevant software.
  • Collaborate with Legal Operations to prepare billing, budgets, and forecasts, and track law firm expenses.
  • Streamline communications with outside law firms and vendors regarding billing and invoicing.
  • Perform administrative support duties, including obtaining documents and signatures, and drafting legal documents as needed.
  • Ensure adherence to relevant IP legal and regulatory requirements and company policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or Associate's degree.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a corporate IP department.
  • Licensed NJ Notary or willingness to obtain license.
  • Proven expertise with IP docketing software and managing high volume dockets for Patent Attorneys.
  • Ability to manage highly sensitive information effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent planning, organization, and time-management skills.
  • Commitment to quality and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with contracts and legal documents.
  • Experience in developing processes or tools for greater efficiencies in a law department.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Logical thinker with strong problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Paralegal certificate is a plus.
