The Senior IS Programmer Analyst in Pharmacoepidemiology at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School plays a crucial role in supporting research activities related to medication use and outcomes. This position involves working with a dedicated team to create analytic data files, conduct statistical analyses, and manage healthcare data, particularly from large administrative databases. The analyst will also mentor junior staff and ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards in research.

Responsibilities

  • Support faculty and research staff in creating analytic data files and conducting statistical analyses.
  • Load, validate, document, manage, and analyze data for research projects.
  • Assist with data storage and management for ongoing projects.
  • Work with research staff to specify appropriate analytical data files for research questions.
  • Create and document derived analytical data files for team use.
  • Participate in monthly programmer team meetings.
  • Mentor junior programmers/analysts.

Requirements

  • 3 years of experience in programming, with a preference for more than 5 years in a healthcare environment.
  • Proficiency with SAS and/or R.
  • Experience with healthcare claims data is required.
  • Master's degree or higher in a relevant field.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with relational databases.
  • Graduate education in epidemiology, biostatistics, or computer science.
