About the position

Consider joining the City of San Bernardino's Information Technology Department as a Senior IT Analyst. This recruitment will be used to fill two (2) vacancies in the Information Technology Department. One of the positions will be assigned to Public Safety serving the Police Department, while the other vacancy will serve all other non-Police Departments. The Senior IT Analyst plays a key role in the design, development, modification, programming, testing, implementation, documentation, and maintenance of City systems, programs, and applications. This position also involves troubleshooting, analyzing, and resolving complex issues related to systems, applications, hardware, and software. Additionally, the Senior IT Analyst provides leadership and direction to ensure effective team performance and project success. These positions may rotate department assignments; therefore, candidates must pass Police backgrounds as they may be assigned to the Police department rotation. Based on department assignment, incumbents may be on-call and required to respond/report to department immediately.

Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for advanced design, development, and maintenance of City systems, including financial and emergency response applications.
  • Handles complex work in designing, developing, and maintaining various City systems, including financial and emergency response applications.
  • Provides support for existing software, addresses client inquiries, and resolves operational issues.
  • Leads system evaluations, develops technical solutions, and manages project scope, resources, and implementation.
  • Designs test scenarios, executes system conversions, implements disaster recovery plans, and oversees real-time operational support.
  • Develops and maintains City websites, creates reports and documentation, coordinates user training, and stays updated on IT trends.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems, or a closely related field.
  • Five (5) years of responsible experience in the development, installation, and maintenance of computer applications or two (2) years' experience as an IT Analyst II or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • A valid California driver's license is required.
  • Must be able to pass a background investigation.
  • Must be able to carry a pager and respond to emergency service.
