About the position

ASML US, including its affiliates and subsidiaries, brings together the most creative minds in science and technology to develop lithography machines that are key to producing faster, cheaper, more energy-efficient microchips. The IT Applications Engineer plays a crucial role in the development, delivery, and performance assurance of applications and software solutions. This position requires close collaboration with ASML business stakeholders to incorporate user-defined needs and feedback, thereby improving application design and optimizing performance. The engineer will provide technical support to various business areas and generate innovative ideas to convey the IT art-of-the-possible to the ASML business, inspiring and realizing capability enhancements. The IT Applications Engineer is responsible for collaborating with teams across various projects and customers to assess feasibility and customize applications. This includes supporting software build and development activities for both local and remote systems, which encompasses installation, software patching, system security, data backup, storage management, virtual machine management, and problem analysis. The engineer will perform remote troubleshooting using diagnostic techniques and pertinent questions, serving as a Tier 1/Tier 2 point of contact for problem and incident management. All customer requests will be logged and updated using the designated call handling and tracking system. Additionally, the engineer will define improvement proposals focusing on system performance and process efficiency for end-users, investigate and implement non-standard changes with limited scope, and support engineering requests to resolve issues. Ensuring compliance with all IT standard processes, procedures, and Service Level Agreements is also a key responsibility. The role may require access to controlled technology, and candidates must be legally authorized to access such technology prior to beginning work.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with teams across various projects and customers on feasibilities and applications' customizations.
  • Responsible for software build and development support activities for systems local or remote, including installation, software patch, system security, data backup, storage management, VM, and problem analysis activities.
  • Performs remote troubleshooting through diagnostic techniques and pertinent questions.
  • Provides support process by serving as Tier 1 / Tier 2 point of contact and owner of problem/incident.
  • Logs all customer requests and updates calls utilizing the designated call handling and tracking system.
  • Defines improvement proposals that focus on system performance and process efficiency for end-users.
  • Investigates and implements non-standard changes with a limited scope.
  • Supports and takes ownership of requests from engineering and helps to solve these requests.
  • Ensures all IT standard processes and procedures and Service Level Agreements are met.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in IT and/or Engineering; Master's degree is a plus.
  • Minimum 3 years related and proven experience in large technical software development environments.
  • Shows initiative, strong analytical skills, and a problem-solving attitude.
  • Highly motivated team player with good social skills and a strong service/customer orientation.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Linux (RHEL, Centos).
  • Knowledge of Networking - Architecture (TCP/IP UDP).
  • Familiarity with ticketing systems (ServiceNow).
  • Experience with monitoring systems (Splunk).
  • Application management experience (Atlassian Stack - JIRA, Confluence, Wiki, Bitbucket).
  • Storage knowledge (NFS, SMB, CIFS, ZFS, NAS).
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash, Perl).
  • Experience with developer tools (IDE, code quality checkers, review tools, etc.).
  • Knowledge of Infra & Test environment (DevBench) including web tools for Patch and Release functionality.
  • Experience with Kubernetes (K8) and Terraform.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD processes and SVN/Git SCM.
