About the position

The Senior IT Architect at Puget Sound Energy (PSE) is responsible for leading the design and implementation of cloud-based AI solutions, driving the adoption of new cloud providers, and migrating applications to cloud platforms. This role focuses on developing architecture for cloud-enabled AI solutions while ensuring alignment with business outcomes and enterprise architecture. The position requires collaboration with senior business leaders and technology owners to create secure and valuable technology roadmaps, contributing to the utility industry's future direction.

Responsibilities

• Employs a systems engineering approach to design complete and complex frameworks and systems.
• Assists with the definition of system and infrastructure specifications, interfaces, and working parameters for hardware and/or software performance.
• Conceives system interfaces and business application prototypes, identifying and resolving system design weaknesses.
• Develops strategies, frameworks, and approaches for enterprise-wide systems focusing on Cloud and AI technologies.
• Analyzes marketplace, industry, company, and technology trends to inform business and IT direction.
• Acts as a spokesperson on the company's technical designs and future directions across multiple technology domains.
• Researches, analyzes, designs, and proposes solutions that align with business and technology strategies.
• Advises Solution Delivery Teams on the development of Technology Element Roadmaps.
• Understands the entire IT landscape at PSE based on broad and deep applied professional experience.
• Monitors technological advancements to ensure proposed solutions align with industry standards and emerging business requirements.
• Responsible for delivering Technology Feasibility Assessments during project planning.
• Participates in design reviews for aligned technology projects, contributing feedback to ensure alignment with IT Architecture patterns.
• Focuses at the Enterprise level shaping longer-term vision and delegates project-specific activities to appropriate levels.
• Demonstrates commitment to conduct business honestly and ethically, ensuring compliance with regulatory obligations.
• Upholds safety compliance standards inherent in PSE's operating procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
• 15 years of IT architecture experience.
• 10 years' experience in a large-scale, heterogeneous IT environment.
• Ability to translate strategic plans for architecture into design and implementation of applications.
• Deep technical expertise in Amazon Web Services and working knowledge of other Cloud Platforms (Google/Azure).
• Ability to influence across multiple business functions or technologies.
• Excellent interpersonal, oral/presentation, and written communication skills.
• Strong leadership, project, and team building skills.
• Strong collaborator with a willingness to share ideas and best practices.
• Conceptual and analytical thinker with the ability to document complex requirements.

Nice-to-haves

• MS or MBA degree in Computer Science or related field.
• Prior utility industry work experience, especially in regulated utilities.
• IT Architecture related certification: TOGAF, ZCEA.
• AWS Certifications: Solutions Architect Professional, DevOps Engineer, Enterprise Architect, Machine Learning.
