About the position

The Global Trade Compliance IT Business Analyst at Watlow plays a crucial role in supporting the global trade compliance team by developing and implementing IT solutions that ensure adherence to international trade regulations. This position requires a collaborative approach, working closely with various departments such as legal, logistics, finance, and IT to identify and mitigate compliance risks effectively. The analyst will leverage their knowledge of trade compliance laws and regulations, conduct meticulous reviews of documentation, and identify discrepancies to design IT solutions that integrate seamlessly with existing systems, including ERP and CRM platforms. In addition to developing IT solutions, the analyst will be responsible for executing and monitoring international trade compliance initiatives and activities set by the Trade Compliance team. This involves delivering results through the analysis of trade data, utilizing experience with U.S. and international product classification, and maintaining a strong collaboration with functional leaders and teams across the organization. The analyst will act as a liaison between the trade compliance team, IT department, and other business units, ensuring effective communication with stakeholders to align and clarify compliance requirements. Proficiency in tools such as Oracle, ACE, and other Global Trade Management (GTM) solutions is essential for understanding supply chain concepts related to importing and exporting. Familiarity with Descartes OCR system configurations and end-user processes with the OCR platform is highly desired, as it will enhance the analyst's ability to support compliance efforts across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare software development life cycle deliverables, such as functional specifications, design documents and test cases
  • Prepare testable requirements (user stories) and use cases
  • Participate in release planning, daily stand-up meetings, reviews, retrospectives, and sprint planning, demos and other Agile Scrum related meetings
  • Research, analyze technology that solves business problems and supports improvement opportunities
  • Analyze, document, and test program development, logic, process flows and specifications around data mining and data sets
  • Work with IS/IT Product Managers to define the minimum viable product (MVP) that satisfies the need
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders and technical teams regarding enhancements, changes, issues and defects that may impact development, data, workflow and/or functionality
  • Ensure that best practices and common technology solutions are effectively applied across sites, value streams, and businesses.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or 3-7 years of related IT experience
  • Desired proficiency with Microsoft products, Oracle E-Business Suite, Oracle Cloud Fusion, JIRA, ServiceNow, and Automation tools (RPA or Bots)
  • Certified International Trade Professional (CITP) or similar certification preferred
  • Experience with Oracle GTM, or other trade compliance software
