About the position

The Senior IT Manager, Data Engineering is responsible for overseeing the data engineering team, ensuring effective solution design, deployment, and support of processes. This role involves strategic planning, operational management, and collaboration with various business units to align data engineering initiatives with organizational goals. The position requires a strong focus on team development, project management, and the adoption of best practices in data engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze existing solution effectiveness and efficiency and develop strategies for improvement.
  • Benchmark, analyze and make recommendations for improving current and future implementation methods and practices.
  • Facilitate and oversee development of internal team goals.
  • Support the growth and development of team members and leaders, ensuring a detailed succession plan is in place.
  • Lead and liaise with Enterprise Data and Insights (ED&I) and Digital Technology teams to ensure alignment across portfolios.
  • Partner with business leadership regarding risks, objectives, and process improvements.
  • Work with management to generate quarterly work plans including estimation of time and resource allocation for proposals.
  • Develop wants/needs for the annual budgeting process in projects, operations, and support.
  • Assist the business and applications teams in alignment of key projects.
  • Coordinate feasibility studies for software and system products under consideration for purchase.
  • Provide guidance concerning business implications of development projects.
  • Guide and oversee project and design reviews to ensure compliance with policies, principles, and standards.
  • Communicate effectively with internal partners and customers to deliver requirements.
  • Guide and oversee the IT organization standards for process management.
  • Maintain relationships with key consumers of data engineering services and address concerns as they arise.
  • Develop solutions to leverage SaaS platform functionality and suggest process improvements.
  • Provide regular, clear, and consistent communication on the status of projects, issues, and deliverables.
  • Manage and oversee staffing, performance, and resource management.
  • Define and implement strategic direction of the team.
  • Set employee objectives, monitor and evaluate performance, and provide feedback and mentoring.
  • Create and maintain development plans for each team member, including training and career planning.
  • Manage team organizational structure with defined roles and responsibilities.
  • Develop management dashboards to ensure tasks are completed timely and effectively.
  • Manage, develop, and mentor team members toward building a strong team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Information Technology or equivalent experience.
  • 12+ years of IT experience.
  • 8+ years of experience managing a team of direct reports.
  • 5+ years of experience with SQL (PostgreSQL, T-SQL, PL/SQL, SNOWSQL).
  • 5+ years of experience with designing, building, and implementing applications and system integrations.
  • 3+ years of experience with server-side scripting in a Linux environment.
  • 3+ years of experience using data warehouse ETL tools (IICS, Fivetran/HVR, Oracle Data Integrator).
  • Strong knowledge of Data Engineering practices and common database technologies (Oracle, Snowflake).
  • Proven ability to champion best-in-class Data engineering practices and drive agile practices.

Nice-to-haves

  • Exposure/experience with developing and integrating with Cloud-based applications.
  • Strong experience in project management and system architecture methodologies.
  • Knowledge of vendor software integration and interaction patterns.
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
  • Exposure/Experience with DevOps practices.

Benefits

  • Relocation package within company policy.
  • Annual salary range from $136,212 to $177,726.
