About the position

The Senior IT Project Management Associate at Baylor College of Medicine will oversee software project management for genomics software development projects. This role involves ensuring project delivery, coordinating with engineering leads, and engaging with consortium collaborators and NIH program officers. The position requires strong communication skills to present software products and gather user feedback for continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Gather software requirements and form detailed specifications in cooperation with consortium stakeholders.
  • Assist engineering leads in software prioritization, planning, and change control management.
  • Participate in consortium software planning and data modeling with PIs and project managers.
  • Communicate project progress, plans, obstacles, and new functionality to stakeholders.
  • Submit reports to consortium oversight panels and NIH program officers as requested.
  • Build and maintain collaborations through advocacy and outreach.
  • Represent BCM software products at workshops, conferences, and presentations.
  • Provide scientific context to the software engineering team.
  • Track, coordinate, manage, and document software projects and workflows.
  • Facilitate software prioritization and engineering processes using agile methodologies.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (four years of relevant experience may substitute for degree requirement).
  • Four years of relevant experience in software project management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degree in a relevant field.
  • More than four years of experience managing software development projects within a consortium.
  • Experience engaging with end-users to develop software product scope of work.
  • Experience working with a development team focused on genomics, genetics, or bioinformatics.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
