About the position

The Senior IT Project Manager plays a crucial role in leading, planning, executing, monitoring, controlling, and closing projects for the Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO). This position is responsible for overseeing and directing complex corporate initiatives that exceed $5 million, involving 15 to 50+ stakeholder groups across various organizational work streams. Utilizing Agile methodology, the Senior IT Project Manager ensures the successful delivery of results while managing large-scale projects holistically around scheduled program increments and milestones, scope, cost, resource health, and risks. Collaboration with stakeholders in key meetings is essential to achieve successful project outcomes. In this role, the Senior IT Project Manager is tasked with planning and owning project finances, which includes understanding timing implications and key payment dates. The manager proactively reports project status, creates scorecards, and fulfills project analysis requests by employing critical and creative thinking. Additionally, the position involves leading and contributing to vendor selection and procurement activities under the guidance of the program manager. The Senior IT Project Manager identifies, produces, and fulfills resource and go-live operational plans to ensure project success. The role also requires the preparation of key documents, presentation of business cases, and production of other necessary reports while collaborating with stakeholders to navigate project funding conversations and initiation ceremonies. The Senior IT Project Manager leads a team utilizing a matrix management system, ensuring effective communication and project delivery across various departments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, plan, execute, monitor, control, and close projects for the Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO).
  • Oversee complex corporate initiatives involving multiple stakeholder groups using Agile methodology.
  • Manage large scale Waterfall or Agile projects around scheduled program increments and milestones, scope, cost, resource health, and risks.
  • Plan and own project finances, including timing implications and key payment dates.
  • Proactively report project status, create scorecards, and fulfill project analysis requests.
  • Lead vendor selection and procurement activities under program manager guidance.
  • Identify, produce, and fulfill resource and go-live operational plans to ensure project success.
  • Prepare key documents, present business cases, and produce reports as needed.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to bring projects through funding conversations and initiation ceremonies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Health Informatics, Information Technology, Information Systems, or related discipline, or an additional 4 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a Bachelor's degree.
  • 5 years' experience leading projects in a cross-functional, technical systems implementation.
  • Strong financial management ability, including comprehension of project financials and the ability to create and manage a project budget.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to successfully lead in a matrixed environment.
  • Ability to meet established deadlines and handle multiple customer service demands.
