About the position

The Senior IT Project Manager at the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) plays a crucial role in overseeing IT projects that align with the organization's mission to enhance safety and reduce hazards. This fully remote position involves collaborating with internal stakeholders to develop project deliverables, manage budgets, and ensure timely execution of projects. The role requires strong leadership and communication skills to guide cross-functional teams and maintain alignment with company objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders to clearly define the scope, objectives, and outcomes of IT projects.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, timelines, and budgets.
  • Lead and support the cross-functional team throughout the project, including project initiation, development, testing, deployment, and post-launch.
  • Utilize critical thinking skills to understand and work with both existing and new application software within enterprise systems.
  • Coordinate and organize project meetings, including sprint events, to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Maintain continuous communication with all project members to monitor project deliverables and progress.
  • Identify and assist the team in the management, mitigation, and resolution of project-related issues, dependencies, and risks as needed.
  • Work with vendors and other NFPA managers to ensure adequate resources are in place to complete the required work assignments in the specified time.
  • Offer feedback, advice, project updates, and encouragement to team members to foster a collaborative and high-performance team culture.

Requirements

  • Proven experience managing enterprise projects from initiation to completion.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Initiative-taking, resourceful, adaptive learner.
  • Experience managing both waterfall and Agile projects.
  • Budget management proficiency.
  • Ability to foster a collaborative and high-performing project team.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in project management and prior technical experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in business or computer science or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
