About the position

The Senior Information Technology Project Manager will lead and support complex system and infrastructure projects within Gwinnett County's Department of Information Technology Services. This role involves planning, managing, and implementing projects while adhering to established project management standards and methodologies. The position requires collaboration with key stakeholders to achieve project goals and deliverables, ensuring successful project execution across the County Enterprise.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to Gwinnett County ITS PMO project management standards and methodologies for technology implementations based on waterfall, agile or hybrid framework.
  • Manage the planning, assignment, and execution of project tasks using Microsoft Project 2019 and other standard tools.
  • Create and maintain key project artifacts throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Develop project charter and project plan and schedule.
  • Provide consultation on operational and infrastructure requirements, standards, and configurations.
  • Facilitate and document project status meetings and distribute timely project status reports.
  • Apply strong skills in issue resolution, influencing team members and stakeholders, conducting negotiations, and managing project timelines.
  • Monitor, identify, and effectively mitigate risks to minimize impacts to project scope, schedule, costs, or quality.
  • Facilitate and document project closeout.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology or a closely related field.
  • Five or more years of progressively responsible professional experience in project management.
  • Active Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • In-depth understanding and practical experience managing projects using waterfall and agile development methodologies.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and executive presentation skills.
  • Highly analytical with strong organizational abilities and keen attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

  • Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) or similar certification.
  • 7+ years of professional experience in project management.
  • Advanced knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures in managing IT technology projects.
  • Experience in a large government environment.
