About the position

The Senior IT Project Manager is responsible for designing, planning, and coordinating IT work teams to manage technical, software, and data-centric projects. This role requires a minimum of five years of project management experience and the ability to oversee projects with multiple subprojects and a team of ten or more staff. The position involves following standard project management practices, understanding business and technical objectives, and ensuring effective communication with stakeholders and project sponsors.

Responsibilities

• Design and coordinate IT work teams for project execution.
• Create project kickoff, progress, and close-out reports.
• Track budget and schedule progress using appropriate metrics.
• Establish project organization and methodologies, defining roles and responsibilities.
• Document risks and develop mitigation plans.
• Manage project scope and implement communication plans as necessary.
• Build effective teams with the right technical and business-facing experts.
• Assign tasks to team members and evaluate outcomes.
• Communicate project status to stakeholders and sponsors.
• Identify, track, and resolve project issues and barriers.
• Provide technical support to project team members.
• Handle complex application features and technical designs.

Requirements

• Minimum five years of project management experience.
• Experience in IT Project Management.
• Strong knowledge of information systems development life cycle and project tools.
• Experience with Waterfall and Agile methodologies.
• Ability to translate technology terms for non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Prior experience working on State of Indiana large data, business intelligence, or software projects as a Senior IT PM.
• PMP Certification.
