About the position

The Senior IT Project Manager at OU Health is responsible for managing multiple large-scale Information Technology projects within the Pediatric Behavioral Health OP department. This role involves strategizing, implementing, and maintaining project initiatives that align with the organizational goals and objectives. The Senior IT Project Manager develops comprehensive project management plans to support the execution and delivery of each project deliverable, ensuring that the projects adhere to the organization's standards of people, quality, service, growth, and finance. In this position, the Senior IT Project Manager oversees various IT and business project teams, ensuring that project goals are achieved efficiently. This includes managing budgets and funding channels to maximize productivity for each project. The role also involves providing guidance and advice to lower-level IT project managers, fostering a collaborative environment that promotes project success. The Senior IT Project Manager is tasked with organizing projects and activities in accordance with the mission and goals of OU Health. This includes developing new projects that support the strategic direction of the organization, creating and managing long-term project goals and objectives, and driving project deliverables to successful completion. The position requires the development of evaluation methods to assess project strengths and identify areas for improvement, as well as capturing project funding needs to ensure uninterrupted execution. Additionally, the Senior IT Project Manager is responsible for ensuring that goals are met in key performance areas, including employee and peer satisfaction, patient safety, service quality, and project team performance. The role requires coordination and collaboration with external vendors, implementing and managing changes to ensure project goals are achieved, and maintaining transparent communication with sponsors and stakeholders regarding project issues and decisions. Accurate and timely reporting of project status throughout its lifecycle is also a critical responsibility, along with analyzing and mitigating project issues and risks. The Senior IT Project Manager acts as a lead to other IT project managers, providing mentoring, advice, and training as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Organizes projects and activities in accordance with the mission and goals of the organization.

  • Ensures goals are met in key performance areas including employee/peer satisfaction, patient safety, service quality, and project team performance.
  • Coordinates and collaborates with external vendors.
  • Implements and manages changes and interventions to ensure project goals are achieved.
  • Meets with sponsors and stakeholders to communicate and foster transparency regarding project issues and decisions on services.
  • Produces accurate and timely reporting of project status throughout its life cycle.
  • Analyzes and mitigates project issues and risks.
  • Acts as a lead to other IT project managers, providing mentoring, advice, and training.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; Bachelor's in Information Technology or Business preferred.
  • 5 or more years of professional work experience in healthcare required.
  • 3 or more years of experience in IT Project Management preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or PMI PGmP required within 36 months of hire.
  • Exceptional project management, time management, facilitation, and organization skills.
  • Outstanding working knowledge of Change Management principles.
  • Experience working with Project Portfolio Management tools, like MS Project, ServiceNow, Workfront, Daptiv, Planview.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership.
  • Exceptional consulting skills to quickly adapt and develop approaches to solving complex issues.
  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, including Waterfall and Agile methods.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop collaborative relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Strong influence skills and ability to motivate others.
  • Ability to maintain integrity and trust among leadership and staff.
  • Proven ability to manage a team of professionals and lead a departmental function.
  • Demonstrated business acumen and understanding of balancing people/organizational decisions with business considerations.
  • Experience using metrics to drive decisions and working with external vendors.
  • Must be a strategic thinker, self-motivated, and have excellent problem-solving and project management skills.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage multiple high-priority deliverables.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficient with the use of Microsoft Office tools.
