The Senior IT Project Manager at Stevens Institute of Technology is responsible for leading the planning, execution, and implementation of multiple complex projects and programs. This role requires maintaining complete control over project scope, schedule, budget, and risk management. The selected candidate will facilitate timely decision-making to ensure projects remain on schedule and within budget. Regular updates will be provided to IT leadership, and the Senior IT Project Manager will be tasked with creating and maintaining trusting relationships with stakeholders. Identifying and managing project issues and risks early on is crucial, along with providing prudent and timely recommendations for risk response. Additionally, this position involves supporting, training, and educating both Project Management Office (PMO) and non-PMO staff in all aspects of PMO processes. The Senior IT Project Manager will partner with campus stakeholders to gather feedback on potential improvements and help create project management processes that cater to the unique culture of Stevens Institute of Technology. The responsibilities include bringing experience in project management best practices and governance to help develop the technology Project Management Office, including establishing frameworks, processes, and templates. The Senior IT Project Manager will coach and collaborate with decision-makers and stakeholders to implement enterprise procedures and processes aimed at improving project delivery success rates. They will define IT project scope, goals, and deliverables in support of business objectives, create and maintain project documentation, and monitor the execution phase to ensure projects are completed on time and meet business and system requirements. Furthermore, the role involves managing the Project Management Life Cycle from beginning to end, communicating frequently with stakeholders and project teams to ensure buy-in, and providing support for project plan development while monitoring timelines, budgets, and scope. The Senior IT Project Manager will create project budgets, estimate resources needed, and negotiate with resource managers to ensure appropriate resources are assigned to achieve project goals. They will apply industry-accepted methodologies, such as those from the Project Management Institute (PMI), to ensure adherence to project management standards and provide stakeholders with continual reports on project progress and performance. Conducting project completion reviews, resource and vendor assessments, and creating recommendation reports to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements are also key responsibilities. The role requires observing project team dynamics to ensure effective team member synergies and resolving and escalating issues as necessary. The Senior IT Project Manager will create progressive project milestones to facilitate smaller-scale achievements and motivate the project team, while also performing assessments throughout projects to identify risks and develop response strategies for managing and mitigating those risks. Finally, they will participate in the evaluation, selection, maintenance, and continuous enhancement of project management methodology, tools, and templates, contributing to the overall improvement of the PMO.
