About the position

The Senior IT QA Analyst at Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) is responsible for leading quality assurance efforts for enterprise applications, ensuring high standards of software testing and quality control. This role involves engaging with business users and IT teams throughout project lifecycles, coordinating testing efforts, and collaborating with offshore resources to execute testing strategies effectively. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in application and integration testing, particularly within the insurance domain, and will contribute to enhancing QA processes and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Play hands-on lead role in system integration and regression testing for key initiatives (test planning, design, execution, defect management, and reporting).
  • Participate in the overall planning and execution of QA Teams testing objectives.
  • Coordinate testing efforts with internal and external interfaces.
  • Engage with business analysts and development teams to understand new requirements.
  • Collaborate with peers and management to develop process standards and/or enhancements to prevent the re-occurrence of QA issues.
  • Engage with business users to understand workflows and system issues assisting them in solving problems.
  • Work closely with offshore testing resources for the purpose of developing and executing test cases.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, tools, and technologies.
  • Some business background in Commercial P&C Insurance Underwriting or Claims functions.
  • Experience working on Enterprise Applications.
  • 5+ years' experience in QA roles supporting complex systems development or packaged software implementation efforts.
  • Experience working in Agile and Waterfall projects.
  • Strong understanding of the End-to-End (E2E) software development process and system development lifecycle including E2E testing.
  • Technical expertise on quality assurance and quality control.
  • Ability to manage offshore quality assurance analysts.
  • Experience in coordinating and executing projects, including setting up process flows, identifying and documenting potential issues, generating testing strategies, developing, and maintaining test scripts.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of defect systems such as Jira, Azure DevOps, Quality Center, or any other defect management tool.
