About the position

The Senior IT Systems Administrator plays a crucial role in maintaining and optimizing the IT infrastructure at PG&E. This position involves installing, configuring, and troubleshooting various operating systems and applications, ensuring high performance and security compliance. The role also includes mentoring team members and leading project implementations, making it essential for the candidate to possess strong technical and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Installs, configures, maintains, and performs testing of various operating systems, utilities, applications, and hardware.
  • Troubleshoots server-based hardware, operating system, and software problems.
  • Monitors systems activities and fine-tunes configuration to optimize performance.
  • Performs system utilization analysis to ensure adherence to best practices for security and utilization.
  • Develops procedures for routine administration and provides recommendations for improving the server environment.
  • Acts as lead in project implementation when appropriate and applies technology or team leadership abilities.
  • Coaches and mentors staff, communicating new processes and gaining support for changes.
  • Leads deployment of new applications, application updates, security updates/patches, and report creation.
  • Performs complex server troubleshooting, maintaining security compliance, and client data protection services.
  • Scripts complex procedures and processes for automation.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Computer Science or job-related discipline or equivalent experience.
  • 4 years job-related technical experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or job-related discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Utility industry experience.
  • Leadership experience in IT-Information Technology for 2 years.
  • Experience at PG&E.
  • 3 years of job-related experience in consulting.
