About the position

Join Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG), the 7th largest financial group in the world, as a Senior Java Developer- AVP in Tampa, FL. In this role, you will leverage your technical expertise across all aspects of the software development lifecycle while collaborating with various technical and business stakeholders. Your contributions will be vital in balancing the needs of multiple stakeholders and supporting senior staff on complex projects. You will utilize data and analysis, applying your software experience, judgment, and risk mindset to fulfill your responsibilities effectively. As a Senior Java Developer, you will provide L1, L2, and L3 support for all Capital Markets systems and business users, including Front Office, Operations, Middle Office, and Regulatory Reporting. You will troubleshoot issues, develop clear action plans to resolve them, and implement solutions into production while adhering to the Bank's enterprise policies and procedures. You will act as the IT lead for projects that require development, coordination with other teams, business analysis, and testing. Your role will involve partnering with subject matter experts to translate project objectives into detailed technical requirement documents, including timelines and task lists. You will work closely with business users to document, define, and track project technical requirements, milestones, and deliverables. Additionally, you will organize work assignments for key technical projects and communicate effectively with all project participants using tools like JIRA. You will also interact with project managers, internal constituents, and external vendors to ensure the successful delivery of assigned work. In this position, you will always seek improvements and ways to enhance business operations and platforms. Your ability to quickly earn the trust of sponsors and key stakeholders, learn from existing documentation, and execute with limited information will be crucial to your success.

Responsibilities

  • Provides L1, L2, L3 support for all Capital Markets systems and Business users (Front Office, Operations, Middle Office, Regulatory Reporting, etc.).
  • Troubleshoots issues and problems, develops clear action plans to resolve such issues, and implements solutions into production following the Bank's enterprise policies and procedures.
  • Acts as IT lead for projects requiring development, coordination with other teams, business analysis, and testing.
  • Partners with subject matter experts (SME) to translate project objectives and requirements into detailed technical requirement documents with timelines, task lists, and next steps.
  • Works closely with Business users to document, define, and track project technical requirements, milestones, and deliverables for one or many projects.
  • Organizes work assignments of key technical projects and communicates to all project participants concisely, leveraging JIRA.
  • Interacts closely with project managers, internal constituents, and external vendors to deliver the work assigned to the development team.
  • Liaises with various vendors to learn their systems and look for improvements.
  • Works on any Capital Markets initiative requiring the assistance of the developer.
  • Always looks for improvements and ways to better run the business and the platforms.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of software development experience following enterprise standards.
  • 5+ years of programming experience in a modern language such as Java, Python, or C#.
  • 5+ years of experience with web technologies such as Restful Services, JavaScript.
  • Working knowledge of vendor applications such as MSCI Risk Metrics Analytics, mOLAP solutions (Oracle Hyperion Essbase, ActiveViam Atoti or other), cros-asset front-to-back Trading platforms (Calypso, Murex, ION, Sophis, etc.).
  • 5+ years of experience with application design, development, deployment, and aftercare support.
  • Experience in designing data models and structures and formulating storage strategies.
  • Prefer prior experience working with front, middle, or back-office teams in a financial institution.
  • Experience in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting applications in Unix/Linux based environments.
  • Experience with RDBMS based databases such as Oracle and SQL Server or NoSQL databases.
  • Cloud experience, preferably in Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  • Experience with virtualization, containerization, and serverless computing.
  • Integration of Machine Learning libraries and frameworks to apply in NLP tasks and ability to perform statistical analysis and refine data models will be a plus.
  • Experience with monitoring systems and diagnostic tools.
  • Trained in CI/CD principles and DevOps workflow tools such as Azure DevOps or Jenkins.
  • Hands-on experience using Atlassian Suite (Jira, Confluence, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of best practices regarding remediation of Application Security and Software Vulnerabilities.
  • Excellent knowledge of object-oriented analysis and design patterns.
  • Experience with major public cloud offerings and how to solve designs that are built around these technologies (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform).
  • Knowledge of SDLC/SCM.
  • Strong programming skills in Java or C# using object-oriented principles.
  • Development experience with PL/SQL databases, including stored procedures, database triggers, and packages.
  • Must possess organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Effective verbal and written communicator; able to present complex issues and solutions with appropriate levels of detail to diverse (technical and non-technical) audiences.
  • Broad functional understanding of Fixed Income, Derivatives (IRS, CDS), and Foreign Exchange financial instruments and trade lifecycle.
