About the position

The Senior Java Developer will play a crucial role in supporting the Digital Modernization program by providing agile technical delivery activities. This remote position involves crafting technical strategies and developing modern Java web applications in an AWS environment using DevSecOps tools.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy modern Java web applications iteratively in the AWS environment using DevSecOps tools.
• Utilize Object Oriented or Functional Programming techniques.
• Function effectively in a Test-Driven Development environment.
• Engage in Pair Programming activities.
• Work with Cloud Technologies, particularly AWS.
• Operate within a JVM-based environment using specified technologies.

Requirements

• BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent work experience in a related area with at least 5 years of software engineering experience.
• Strong programming skills with Java 8+.
• Experience with Spring Framework Core, Boot, Data, JavaScript, ReactJS, Redux, and Python.
• Experience with container-based technology such as Docker.
• Experience with Configuration Management/Automation technologies such as Cloud Formation, Terraform, Ansible, etc.
• Experience with Python, EKS, and Helm is preferred.
• Experience working in Agile Development environments such as Scrum and SAFe.
• At least 3+ years of experience working in an AWS environment.
• Experience with cloud-native systems.
• Experience with DevOps / DevSecOps practices.
• Experience implementing modern web applications.
• Experience managing end-to-end delivery, from UX design to production release.
• Experience working within Continuous Delivery Patterns and Practices.
• Experience operationalizing, monitoring, and maintaining distributed systems.
• Active Public Trust Clearance with IRS component/agency is highly preferred.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Python, EKS, Helm is preferred.
• Active MBI with IRS is highly preferred.
