About the position

HealthEdge is seeking a Senior Java Developer to join our Solution Engineering team in Boise, Idaho. This role is pivotal for developing solutions that enable our customers to integrate seamlessly with our product suite. As a senior member of the team, you will engage in a variety of unique assignments, contributing to design discussions, backend coding, and database management using J2EE and integration technologies. Your expertise in Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and enterprise application integration (EAI) will be essential as you take on responsibilities across all phases of software development, including requirements definition, design, architecture, development, testing, and integration. In this position, you will work as part of an agile team to implement new features that align with customer requirements while adhering to best coding practices. You will lead design sessions, conduct peer reviews, and coordinate release management and bug triaging. Your role will also involve direct interaction with HealthEdge customers to identify optimal solutions, as well as performing critical tasks such as bug fixing, configuration migration, and data loads for User Acceptance Testing (UAT) readiness. You will be expected to support the resolution of customer issues in both production and non-production environments, contributing to the operational documentation necessary for the support team. Responsibilities

  • Work as part of an agile team to implement new features according to the requirements while adhering to the best coding development standards
  • Conduct detailed designs and lead design whiteboarding and creation of solution architecture
  • Lead in work-breakdown of tasks and help with backlog grooming by breaking down epics into stories that meet Definition of Ready
  • Lead peer reviews of design and code
  • Coordinate release management and bug triaging
  • Lead technical discussions with HealthEdge customers to find the best possible solutions
  • Conduct bug fixing, implement configuration migration process and other UAT readiness technical tasks
  • Perform data loads for UAT readiness and during UAT as requested by the UAT plan
  • Support resolution of customer issues in production and non-production environments
  • Contribute to authoring the Implementation Operational Information and companion spreadsheet for feeds
  • Perform configuration migration process and other PROD readiness technical tasks
  • Perform data loads for PROD readiness
  • Perform all job functions consistent with HealthEdge policies and procedures, including those which govern handling PHI and PII

Requirements

  • BS/BA in Computer Science or related field
  • Excellent analysis, consulting, and communication skills
  • Previous experience in customer-facing roles on professional services engagements
  • Minimum of 6 years of development experience in Java/J2EE technologies
  • Hands-on experience with Core Java, XML, Web Services, JMS, and SQL
  • Experience in complex data analysis, data migrations, and system integration of software products into complex IT environments
  • Experience in writing/understanding quality database queries or Stored Procedures that are reliable, scalable, and reusable
  • Development experience on the Linux operating system and WebLogic Application Server
  • Experience working with integration middleware or enterprise system bus (ESB) technologies such as iWay, Spring, or Apache Camel and OSGI containers like Apache Karaf
  • Experience with Design Patterns and Enterprise Integration Patterns, including file transfers, messaging, routing, transforming, enriching, etc.
  • Experience with source control software (Bitbucket), unit testing (JUnit), Git, Maven, and build automation/CI (Jenkins)
  • Experience in tuning Java applications, tuning Database SQLs, Docker, K8S, Cloud, and Web Service testing tools like SOAPUI is a plus
  • Experience in the health insurance industry (Payors) preferred
  • Experience with agile development methodology such as SCRUM or Kanban

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with cloud technologies
  • Knowledge of web service testing tools like SOAPUI
