About the position

The Application Developer, Consultant position is a pivotal role based in New York, focusing on a variety of key initiatives that include development support and the creation of full life-cycle enterprise-wide applications. As the firm expands its investment research footprint, the successful candidate will be part of a dynamic technology team that emphasizes innovative design and effective delivery. This role promises to be both challenging and rewarding, providing opportunities to interact closely with key users and stakeholders to ensure that the technology solutions align with business needs. In this position, the candidate will be responsible for developing Windows client desktop applications using Microsoft .NET technology. The role requires a deep understanding of the .NET ecosystem, including technologies such as WPF, WCF, MEF, and Linq. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of delivering high-quality applications and will be comfortable working within a structured project environment. The ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, is crucial, as the candidate will need to gather requirements and influence design decisions within a global technology team. The successful candidate will also be expected to develop their own project plans quickly and efficiently, applying software development methodologies to deliver robust and well-tested solutions in a rapid Test-Driven Development (TDD) environment. While knowledge of investment research and finance is not essential, experience in these areas will be considered an advantage, enhancing the candidate's ability to contribute to the firm's objectives.

Requirements

  • 5 years commercial experience in application development.
  • Proven track record delivering Windows client desktop applications using Microsoft .NET technology.
  • Experience with WPF, WCF, MEF, and Linq.
  • Knowledge and interest in the whole .NET ecosystem (both current and forthcoming technologies).
  • Prior experience of working within the Microsoft Office environment (including VSTO) is a strong advantage.
  • Experience in server-side Java development is beneficial.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills to gather requirements and influence design decisions.
  • Comfortable working with clearly defined project plans and developing own plans quickly.
  • Strong C# .NET skills.
  • Experience applying software development methodologies to deliver robust, well-tested solutions in a rapid TDD environment.
