About the position

Genesis10 is currently seeking a Senior Java eCommerce Developer for a 12-month contract position located in Conshohocken, PA. This hybrid remote role is designed for experienced developers who are eager to contribute to mission-critical products and define software requirements while owning end-to-end features on large, multi-year projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for implementing creative solutions to complex problems, which may involve introducing new systems to the technology stack, reworking data models, rethinking persistence layers, or actively participating in code reviews. As a vital member of the product team, the Senior Java Developer will advocate for product excellence in enterprise-grade application development. The role involves developing a variety of application types using Java and J2EE, including coding new applications based on predefined program specifications, maintaining and modifying existing programs in production, and working with some of the latest and emerging technologies. The Senior Java Developer will be responsible for the delivery and support of numerous high-profile web applications, requiring excellent technical skills and a desire to make a significant impact within a diverse and expanding team.

Responsibilities

• Implement creative solutions to complex problems, including introducing new systems to technology stacks and reworking data models.
• Participate in code reviews and advocate for product excellence in enterprise-grade application development.
• Develop a variety of application types using Java and J2EE, including coding new applications from predefined specifications.
• Perform maintenance and modification of programs currently in production.
• Deliver and support a large number of high-profile web applications.

Requirements

• Familiarity with Unix-based systems (Solaris, HPUX, BSD, Linux).
• Working knowledge of Eclipse preferred, but other IDE platforms accepted alongside version control systems (e.g., CVS, Subversion).
• Working knowledge of MySQL Cluster, MySQL preferred, but other major RDBMS solutions accepted.
• Understanding of object-oriented concepts.
• Experience with XML/XSLT parsers, XPath, XMLBeans, JDOM.
• Familiarity with Jakarta libraries such as Log4J, Commons, ANT, and Junit.
• Experience with JMS and message queues such as IBM's MQ Series or equivalents is beneficial.
• Exposure to content management systems technology, e.g., CQ5, Interwoven.

Nice-to-haves

• Sun Java Certification or other vendor certifications preferred.
• Java Software Engineer, J2EE Software Developer, Java Programmer, Java Ecommerce Developer certifications.
