About the position

The Senior JAVA Production Support Lead at Cognizant is responsible for providing technical and functional leadership in a production support environment. This role involves managing Java L3 production support, minor enhancements, incident support, and customer interactions while coordinating with offshore teams. The position requires a strong background in Java and Spring Boot frameworks, along with experience in microservices and monitoring tools. The ideal candidate will ensure smooth application operations, troubleshoot production issues, and lead a high-performing team.

Responsibilities

  • Java L3 Production Support including minor enhancements and incident support.
  • Provide technical and functional leadership to the offshore team.
  • Respond and resolve issues beyond standard management requests using independent judgment.
  • Ensure status updates and produce weekly metrics.
  • Enforce client policies, procedures, and software craftsmanship.
  • Provide in-depth analysis for issues and propose solutions.
  • Create program specifications and unit test plans, develop code as per business prioritization.
  • Provide on-call support and troubleshoot issues in the production environment.
  • Perform regular maintenance tasks including patching, upgrades, and configuration changes.
  • Implement and manage monitoring tools to detect issues early.
  • Analyze logs and metrics to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
  • Collaborate with development teams to apply fixes and enhancements.
  • Participate in peer-review of code to ensure better quality of deliverables.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for support processes, known issues, and resolutions.
  • Ensure knowledge sharing and best practices are followed.
  • Be open to work in shifts and provide weekend on-call support.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of strong experience in Java and Spring Boot frameworks.
  • Proficiency in Microservice architecture and associated technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with monitoring tools like Dynatrace, Grafana, and Splunk.
  • Understanding of relational databases like Oracle and SQL.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and tools like Jenkins and GitHub.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Struts, JSP, SOAP API, Autosys, Unix, MongoDB/DB2, and Azure Cloud.
  • Familiarity with JIRA and Service Now for IT Service Management.
