About the position

The Senior JAVA Production Support Lead at Cognizant is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing Java production support, ensuring the smooth operation of applications, and providing technical leadership to both onshore and offshore teams. This position requires extensive experience in Java and related technologies, with a focus on incident management, customer interaction, and continuous improvement of production systems. The role also involves collaboration with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and enhance application performance.

Responsibilities

• Java L3 Production Support including minor enhancements and incident support.
• Provide technical and functional leadership to the offshore team.
• Guide the team in completing assignments with analytical, business, technical, and management expertise.
• Respond to and resolve complex issues using independent judgment.
• Ensure timely status updates and produce weekly metrics.
• Enforce client policies and software craftsmanship standards.
• Conduct in-depth analysis of issues and provide effective solutions.
• Create program specifications and unit test plans, developing code as per business priorities.
• Provide on-call support and troubleshoot production issues promptly.
• Perform regular maintenance tasks including patching and upgrades.
• Implement and manage monitoring tools to detect issues early and analyze logs for performance bottlenecks.
• Collaborate with development teams to resolve defects and performance issues in Java and Spring Boot applications.
• Participate in peer code reviews to ensure quality deliverables.
• Maintain accurate documentation for support processes and known issues.

Requirements

• 10+ years of strong experience in Java and related technologies.
• Proficiency in Core Java, Java 8 or higher, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, and Spring Security.
• Experience with Microservices architecture and associated technologies.
• Familiarity with Angular, React, or Typescript.
• Knowledge of monitoring tools like Dynatrace and Splunk.
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and GitHub.
• Strong SQL skills and understanding of relational databases like Oracle.
• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Struts, JSP, and SOAP API.
• Familiarity with Autosys and Unix.
• Knowledge of MongoDB or DB2.
• Experience with Azure Cloud and IT Service Management tools like JIRA and Service Now.
